Between Lake Constance and the Pfänder, Lochau offers an unusually attractive combination of waterfront and mountain recreation. Swimming, cycling, hiking, boat trips, restaurants, and nearby cultural destinations make the area enjoyable throughout much of the year. The municipality also benefits from its position directly between Bregenz and Lindau. Local businesses provide jobs in services, retail, hospitality, and skilled trades, while public transport connections make larger employers in both Austria and Germany easy to reach. This cross-border setting gives residents access to a broad labor market without losing the advantages of living close to the lake and nature.
Vorarlberg is Austria's westernmost state, with Bregenz as its capital and a dense network of towns stretching between Lake Constance and the Alpine valleys. Its location next to Germany, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein gives the region a strong international character, while its compact size keeps its main economic centers closely connected. At the same time, Vorarlberg has one of Austria's most export-oriented economies, with manufacturing, machinery, metalworking, technology, textiles, and related industries playing a major role in the regional business landscape.
