The green Mürz Valley and Krieglach’s connection with the Waldheimat give the market town a strong Styrian identity. Local sports facilities, cultural activities, community events, and the surrounding mountains offer plenty to do outside working hours. The municipality actively supports regional businesses through local shopping initiatives and events designed to keep purchasing power and jobs in the town. Construction, manufacturing, skilled trades, retail, hospitality, and services all contribute to employment. Larger industrial activity in the wider Mürztal provides additional opportunities, making Krieglach a practical base for people working across Upper Styria.
Alongside this geographic variety, Styria has a strong industrial and research-oriented economy. Automotive, engineering, manufacturing, technology, and related sectors are particularly important, while the region's location in southern Austria creates close links with neighboring Slovenia and the wider Central European market.
