Vineyards, former volcanic landscapes, and a lively main square give Fehring a recognizable character in the heart of eastern Styria’s Thermen- und Vulkanland. Walking routes, wine producers, local restaurants, cafés, cultural events, and nearby thermal destinations provide a varied tourism and leisure offer. The economy is equally diverse, with skilled trades playing a particularly important role alongside manufacturing, technology, construction, retail, agriculture, hospitality, healthcare, and professional services. The wider economic region around Fehring has recorded strong employment growth, supported by available commercial space and business areas such as the Grüne Lagune. Together with rail connections towards Graz and other regional centers, this gives Fehring a solid job market within a largely rural setting.
Alongside this geographic variety, Styria has a strong industrial and research-oriented economy. Automotive, engineering, manufacturing, technology, and related sectors are particularly important, while the region's location in southern Austria creates close links with neighboring Slovenia and the wider Central European market.
