With more than 27,000 employees and around 16,000 people commuting into the city for work, Steyr serves as an important employment hub in Upper Austria. Its economy is particularly shaped by automotive production, engineering, manufacturing, technology, and skilled trades, while a strong network of local businesses creates opportunities across both industrial and service-based sectors. This combination of an established job market and a distinctive historic setting makes Steyr an attractive place to work and build a career.
At the same time, Upper Austria is one of the country's leading industrial and export hubs, with manufacturing, automotive, metalworking, engineering, timber, IT, and services playing an important role. Its central location also provides strong connections to the rest of Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
