Known for its stunning Alpine lake views, rich history, and famous film connections, Mondsee is one of the Salzkammergut’s most distinctive towns. The basilica featured in The Sound of Music and the lake’s year-round appeal attract visitors from Austria and abroad, supporting hotels, holiday apartments, restaurants, and leisure businesses. At the same time, its location only around 30 kilometers from Salzburg and direct access to the A1 broaden employment opportunities beyond tourism, while the upkeep of accommodation, local properties, and infrastructure creates steady demand for construction, renovation, maintenance, and skilled trades.
At the same time, Upper Austria is one of the country's leading industrial and export hubs, with manufacturing, automotive, metalworking, engineering, timber, IT, and services playing an important role. Its central location also provides strong connections to the rest of Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
