Between Bregenz, Dornbirn, and Lake Constance, Lauterach combines a strong business location with valuable natural spaces. The Lauteracher Ried provides a protected landscape for walking and cycling, while the Jannersee has developed into a popular local recreation area. Economically, the municipality benefits from direct access to the A14 motorway and the ÖBB railway network. Its business structure ranges from international logistics centers and manufacturing companies to innovative service providers, with several major employers offering both jobs and apprenticeships. This combination of industry, transport connections, and nearby nature gives Lauterach an important role within Vorarlberg’s densely connected Rhine Valley.
Vorarlberg is Austria's westernmost state, with Bregenz as its capital and a dense network of towns stretching between Lake Constance and the Alpine valleys. Its location next to Germany, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein gives the region a strong international character, while its compact size keeps its main economic centers closely connected. At the same time, Vorarlberg has one of Austria's most export-oriented economies, with manufacturing, machinery, metalworking, technology, textiles, and related industries playing a major role in the regional business landscape.
