Hochburg-Ach is a small Upper Austrian municipality on the Salzach, directly bordering the Bavarian town of Burghausen. Its local economy is shaped mainly by agriculture, forestry, and a network of small and medium-sized businesses, while the cross-border location opens up additional employment opportunities in the wider region. The municipality is also the birthplace of Franz Xaver Gruber, composer of Silent Night, giving Hochburg-Ach a distinctive cultural identity alongside its rural setting.
At the same time, Upper Austria is one of the country's leading industrial and export hubs, with manufacturing, automotive, metalworking, engineering, timber, IT, and services playing an important role. Its central location also provides strong connections to the rest of Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
