The Wallersee gives Henndorf a natural focus for swimming, walking, cycling, and other outdoor activities, while the surrounding Flachgau landscape adds further recreational appeal. Local businesses provide work in retail, skilled trades, services, hospitality, agriculture, and smaller commercial companies. Tourism and lakeside leisure create additional seasonal activity. The municipality also benefits from its proximity to Salzburg and other business locations in the Flachgau, giving commuters access to a considerably larger labor market. Henndorf therefore combines a lakeside lifestyle and local employment with convenient links to one of Salzburg state’s main economic regions.
The regional economy is diverse, with tourism and services playing a major role alongside manufacturing, trade, construction, logistics, and technology. Salzburg city is the main business and educational hub, while employment and economic activity are also spread across regional centers such as Hallein, Bischofshofen, and Zell am See.
