Ferlach is the economic center of the Rosental in southern Carinthia, with a diverse business landscape spanning industry, research, skilled trades, retail, services, and tourism. Around 300 companies provide more than 3,000 jobs, while the town’s long tradition of precision craftsmanship and metalworking continues to shape its industrial identity. Its proximity to Slovenia and Italy also strengthens Ferlach’s role within the wider Alps-Adriatic region, opening additional opportunities for cross-border business and employment.
This location also shapes Carinthia's economy and connections. Alongside tourism and services, manufacturing, electronics, technology, construction, and trade play an important role, particularly around Klagenfurt and Villach. At the same time, links to neighboring countries make the region well connected within the wider Alpine-Adriatic area.
