Lakes, cycling routes, and the green landscape of southern Carinthia give Eberndorf a strong recreational character. Klopeiner See, Turnersee, and Gösselsdorfer See are all nearby, creating opportunities for swimming, watersports, hiking, and summer tourism. Hospitality, accommodation, retail, local services, agriculture, and skilled trades provide employment in and around the municipality. Seasonal tourism is an important part of the regional economy, but the wider Völkermarkt district adds jobs in manufacturing, healthcare, commerce, and public services as well. Eberndorf therefore combines a tourism-oriented lifestyle with access to a broader South Carinthian labor market.
This location also shapes Carinthia's economy and connections. Alongside tourism and services, manufacturing, electronics, technology, construction, and trade play an important role, particularly around Klagenfurt and Villach. At the same time, links to neighboring countries make the region well connected within the wider Alpine-Adriatic area.
