The city has a diverse business landscape that combines retail and services with industrial and technical companies, particularly in areas such as solar energy, plant engineering, recycling systems, and metal processing. Alongside this geographic variety, Styria has a strong industrial and research-oriented economy. Automotive, engineering, manufacturing, technology, and related sectors are particularly important, while the region's location in southern Austria creates close links with neighboring Slovenia and the wider Central European market.
